Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need planning permission?
We are not Planning Specialists and would recommend contacting your local council to discuss this in more detail. If you intend to run a business from your shepherds hut you may need a change of use to the land used. In any case, we would suggest speaking with your local council as we can not be held responsible for any planning issues.
What can I use my Shepherds Hut for?
Shepherds huts can have a variety of uses from overnight accommodation to a summerhouse, office at home to a spare room. You may want a tranquil hideaway at the bottom of your garden where you can read and enjoy a good book or somewhere to work from home where you won't get disturbed but have all your mod cons. You may be thinking of setting up a glamping business or looking to start a B&B with a difference. Whatever your requirements, contact us to discuss these in more detail.
What do I sit my hut on?
Your hut can be sited on a concrete or paving slab bed. We can advise on the size of this in advance to ensure the site is prepared prior to delivery. If the ground condition allows, the hut can be left on solid ground.
How long does it take to build a shepherds hut?
All shepherds huts are bespoke and made to our customers own requirements, therefore, builds can vary from 1 to 2 months.
How do I pay for my hut?
All orders require a non-refundable deposit of 20% before we can start work. A further 50% is due a week before delivery with the balance payable on delivery.
What are the costs for delivery?
Delivery costs vary depending on location of delivery and size of the hut and prices are therefore calculated per order. You can also arrange to have your hut collected.
What about disabled access?
Your shepherd hut can be customised to cater for your requirements. Door openings can be slightly larger and access ramps can be built into the design.
Can I move my shepherds hut?
Yes, they are manoeuvrable a short distance as long at the ground allows for this. Shepherds huts are not roadworthy so must be transported on a trailer the correct capacity for their size and weight. The great thing about shepherds huts is that if you move house your shepherds hut can move with you.
